Jamaica - Apply to be an Election Day Workers


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. To be an election day worker in Jamaica you should submit your application to the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (EOJ). You can view the EOJ’s contact details via this link:Link
  2. Visit the nearest EOJ Constituency Office and go to the returning officer who will issue you an application form for election day workers
  3. Complete the application form correctly and submit it to the returning officer
  4. The EOJ will review your application and contact you regarding the training for election day workers
  5. Participate in the training and upon completion of the training process, the EOJ will select the election day workers
  6. If you are selected, you will be advised of all the relevant information needed for work on the Election Day

Eligibility

Jamaican citizens are eligible to apply as long as they meet these qualities. You should be:

  • At least 17 years old
  • Be literate and able to read and write well
  • Honest and willing to attend training
  • You should be willing to work
  • You should have a Tax Registration Number (TRN).

  • Once you have been selected to work as an election day worker, the job will be valid for the time the EOJ has informed you

Processing Time

  • Training as an election day worker will take two to three weeks and you will receive a minimum of 4- or 3-hour training sessions
