Jamaica - Apply for Coffee Dealer License

Apply In-Person

  1. To Apply for a Coffee Dealer License, you should go to the Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA), please view JACRA’s contact details via this link:Link
  2. Obtain the application form in person from the legal department of JACRA at JACRA’s office or download the form directly through this link:Link
  3. Read and complete the application form accordingly. Note that all sections of the form should be complete correctly to avoid unnecessary delays in processing your application
  4. Gather all the required supporting documentation as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach the documents to the application form
  5. Go to the JACRA office and pay the license processing fee at the cashier and obtain the payment receipt
  6. Submit the complete application including the payment receipt to the JACRA official at the service desk
  7. The official will receive your application and issue you an acknowledgment receipt with details of your application
  8. Then the application will be forwarded to the JACRA relevant authority for review and you will receive formal feedback from JACRA within seven days of receiving your application
  9. If your application is complete and meets the required standards, you will be notified that processing of the application will begin. If not, you will be notified of the requirements to be satisfied for the application to be processed.
  10. If the documentation review is successful, JACRA will conduct an inspection on your farm and or location of operation to determine if it meets the requirements to be issued a license and make a report of the inspection
  11. If the farm meets the production requirement, the JACRA internal committee will check the application elements and decide to approve it or not.
  12. If the application is approved then it will be forwarded to a Board Licensing Committee. However, if the application has been rejected you will be notified and refunded JMD2500
  13. The Board Licensing Committee will further deliberate on the application and approve the processing of the license
  14. The Coffee Board will notify you and provide you with a copy of the Trademark User License for your review and signature
  15. Submit the signed Trademark User Agreement and pay a fee of JMD45000 for the license and a Trademark License fee of USD1500
  16. Upon payment, you will be issued the Dealer’s License, Trademark User Agreement License, Terms and Conditions, and Reporting requirements.


Apply Online - Apply for Coffee Dealer License Online with Images

  1. To apply for the Coffee Dealer License using the online application form, visit the Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) website:Link
  2. Once on the website, click on “RESOURCES” under the information bar to open the hyperlink and select “FORMS” to go to the forms page
  3. Scroll down to find “Dealer’s Licence (Coffee)” and click on it to open the online form
  4. Read the information provided and prepare the required documents ready for upload
  5. Complete the online application form providing the required details. Remember to select “New” under the “Type of Application” section
  6. Once you have completed the form and uploaded all the required supporting documents, click on “SUBMIT FORM”
  7. Upon submitting your application, the JACRA will contact you within seven days of receipt of the application to inform you if your application is successful or if they require more details from you to complete the application
  8. If your application is complete and meets the required standards, you will be notified that processing of the application will begin. If not, you will be notified of the requirements to be satisfied for the application to be processed.

NOTE:

  • If your application is unsuccessful, you will be given written reasons for the refusal along with a refund of JMD 2500. If this happens, you can appeal to the Chairman of the Boa

  • Copies of your business incorporation documents
  • References from 2 business associates
  • A Banker’ Reference
  • A valid Agricultural Produce Licence
  • 3-year Business Concept
  • Farm/production capacity of at least 6,000 boxes of cherry coffee per crop year (evidenced by records/reports of last 3 years before application)

Eligibility

  • Companies or Individuals who wish to sell, import, or export coffee in Jamaica. Note that you must exhibit a farm or production capacity of at least 6,000 boxes of cherry coffee evidenced by records or reports of the last three (3) years when applying for the coffee dealer license



Fees

  • Processing fee for the license: JMD: 5000
  • Processing fees for Trademark: UDS500
  • Trademark User Agreement fee: JMD45000
  • Trademark License fee of USD1500



Validity

  • The license is valid for two years and it is subjected to renewals

  • The JACRA sends feedback to the applicant within seven days of the application however the processing time depends on the completeness of the application and other factors like inspections

  • The application should be well completed to avoid unnecessary delays, note that incomplete applications will not be accepted by JACRA
  • Submit your application on time for the late application will increase the processing fees from JMD 5000 to JMD 10000
