Jamaica - Apply for Coconut Import Permit

Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for the Coconut Import Permit in Jamaica, you should go to the Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA), please view JACRA’s contact details via this link:Link
  2. Write a letter address to the JACRA requesting the import permit, the letter should outline the following details:
    • Type of product being imported
    • Quantity (units, packs, or cases). Please note that where the product is packaged in cases or packs, the quantity per case or pack is required.
    • Weight of each product
    • Your name, address, and telephone number
  3. Prepare the rest of the supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and visit the JACRA office to submit your application at the service unit
  4. JACRA will review your documentation and if the application is incomplete, they will request that you provided the necessary additional documents and/or information to complete your application
  5. If JACRA verifies your application and find it to be complete, the application will be approved and you will be required to pay the permits fee
  6. Visit the JACRA office and pay for the permit at the cashier and obtain the payment slip
  7. Upon payment, JACRA will process the permit and issue you the coconut import permit

  • The JACRA sends feedback to the applicant within seven days of the application however the processing time depends on the completeness of the application
