The declaration of birth can be rendered as follows:
Once the baby is born, it is compulsory to declare the birth at the Register of Births, Marriages and Deaths (Registro Communale dello Stato Civile).
The Birth Declaration (Dichiarazione di nascit) is made orally, without witnesses, within three days if done in the hospital, and within ten days if done in the town hall.
Birth records generally give the childs name, sex, birth date, and birthplace, and the parents names. Many of the early records and all of the later records provide additional details, including the parents birthplaces, ages, and occupations and the mothers maiden name. The baptism date is usually included with the civil birth record.
Once the baby is born, it is compulsory to declare the birth at the Register of Births, Marriages and Deaths (Registro Communale dello Stato Civile).
This declaration of birth can be made by either one of the parents, a person to whom the parents have given proxy, a doctor, an obstetrician or any other person present during the delivery
If the parents are not married, or if the mother is legally separated from her husband, the baby can be registered before the birth.
Late declaration if the declaration has been made after 10 days of birth, the registrant must indicate the reasons for the delay registrar, who shall report to the Prosecutor's Office.
NB. In the case of stillbirth or death occurred before that declaration was made, the declaration must be made exclusively registrar of the municipality of birth.
Birth registration is necessary as it helps when obtaining a birth certificate.
Births were generally registered within a day or two of the childs birth, usually by the father of the family or by the attending midwife. Corrections to a birth record may have been added as a marginal note.
