HOW TO APPLY

1. Couples who got married in Iran or got married to an Iranian, there must register their marriage with Iranian National Organization for Civil Registration or the Iranian embassy/consulate for their marriage to be legally registered
2. Visit one of the above officers with two witness, the required documents and the required fees and request for the application form
3. Read through the instruction carefully and fill the application form correctly, the couple together with the witness should sign the form ,pay the fee and submit them to attending officer
4. The officer will verify your documents and if all the information are in order he will seal and notarize your certificate
5. The amount of time it will take for your application to be processed and for the marriage certificate to be issued depends on the volume of request being currently processed by the registry.

Iranian wife with Iranian husband

• Completed registration form
• Four (4) photos of wife.
• The official consent of wife's father.
• Wife's passport.
• Wife's birth certificate.

Iranian husband with foreign wife

• The couples new birth certificate
• Original passports of the couple.
• Twelve (12) photos of wife (with Hejab)
• Four (4) photos of husband (without hat and glasses)
• The original religious marriage certificate.
• Conversion certificate of wife to Islam if the husband is Moslem.
• The original English marriage certificate.
• Wife's full detailed English birth certificate
• The original health certificate from a doctor for couple.
• Completed registration form

Important Note: If you married a foreign wife, your wife is Iranian , by law, and she should apply for Iranian birth certificate and Iranian passport. Please note that it is not possible to issue a visa for those who are considered to be Iranian.

Iranian wife with foreign husband

• The new birth certificates of the couple.
• Original passports of the couple.
• Husband's full detailed English birth certificate.
• Eight (8) photos of couple (ladies with Hejab).
• The original health certificate issued by the couple's doctor.
• Job certificate (a letter from accountant or solicitor).
• The original religious marriage certificate.
• The original English marriage certificate.
• Conversion certificate of husband to Islam if the wife is Moslem.
• Father's consent which must be confirmed by the Vital Records Office of Foreign Ministry of I.R.Iran, if the father was not present.
• If the father has passed away, the death certificate of father should be presented)
• Completed registration form
• Certificate of non-criminal record for husband that should be confirmed by local police.
• Husband's commitment to give alimony and a one-off travel expenses to Iran, or the wife's consent to give up this right.
• Certificate of non-martial statute for husband if it is not stated in the marriage certificate.
• Payment of 1 pounds for marriage certificate.

• Birth certificate details of the couples
• Identification card details of both the couples and witness

Registering your marriage is a legal requirement form the Iranian government

Notary publics of marriage and divorce are obliged to register, sign and seal any marriage, divorce and revocation of divorce events that they register in the relevant books in the couples' identity cards, and write the marriage, divorce and revocation of divorce events as already registered in their books on relevant forms, deliver to the local civil registration department within at most once every fifteen days and obtain receipts. Marriage, divorce and revocation of divorce of the Iranian abroad should be reflected in the relevant books as sent by National Organization for Civil Registration to the consulate office and the consular office should register the marriages, divorce and revocation of divorce events on the relevant forms to be sent to the National Organization for Civil Registration by Ministry of Foreign Affairs at most once every month

• Allows the couple to enter each other names into their Iranian birth certificate which will be prove of their marriage
• Allows the couple to apply for the birth certificate for their future children
