Indiana - FireArm Certificate


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To obtain Firearm Certificate in Indiana (United States), the applicant has to approach the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) Federal Firearms Licensing Center (FFLC) link
    Note: The applicant can find the nearby office or centre by entering their Zip Code.
  2. The applicant has to download and complete the application form given in the following application form link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form (Incomplete application forms are not accepted)
  4. Make sure the applicant has attached all the required documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Applicant should attach the photocopies of the necessary documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting.
  6. The fee to obtain firearm license is mentioned to “Fees” of this page.
    Note: If the applicant paying the fee by cash or cheque, he/she can enclose the fee with the envelope, if the applicant paying via credit or debit card, he/she must enter their card details in the application form.
  7. Submit the application form and supporting documents to the Federal Firearms Licensing Center P.O. Box 6200-20 Portland, OR 97228-6200 by mail. (Peoples residing in all states of U.S must mail their envelope to this particular address only).
  8. Once the application fee is processed, the Federal Firearms Licensing Center (FFLC) will enter your application information into its database and commence a full review of your application.
  9. The FFLC will then conduct an electronic background check on all the Responsible Persons you have identified on your application.
  10. The field office supervisor will issue an assignment to an Industry Operations Investigator (IOI) who will conduct an in-person interview with you. The IOI will discuss federal, state and local requirements with you, and go over your application with you to ensure the information is correct and current.
  11. The field office supervisor will also review the report and then submit his/her recommendation to the FFLC.
  12. Once the applicant meets all the requirements, the authority will issue the firearm license. This process will take approximately 60 days from the receipt of a properly completed application.

  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Be a US citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • Not be a convicted felon.
  • Not be a user of illegal drugs.
  • Not be convicted of a crime of domestic violence.
  • Not be convicted of any other offense that would disqualify you from owning a gun.
