Indiana - Export a Deceased Body


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Export a Deceased Body, the applicant has to approach the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention link
  2. The officer has to identify the dead body.
  3. Notify the deceased person’s insurance provider and make sure that they follow their instructions to avoid unnecessary delays or complications.
  4. Find a funeral home in the country where the death took place that is experienced in international funeral arrangements.
  5. The officer has to contact the applicant for the details.
  6. Also, collect the necessary deceased documents from the applicant through email or mail.
  7. The required documents are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  8. The fee for this procedure depends on the circumstance of death.
  9. Then the documents will be processed further. All the updates and document status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  10. The officer will contact the applicant to visit the office for further process.
  11. This entire process can be completed within 2- 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
