1. To obtain a new ecard, you will need to go to your local municipality.
2. Complete an application and present supporting identity documents. If you have an expiring ID, present it when you are applying for a new.
3. Pay the application fee.

The new electronic ID card will be available for anyone eligible for a Hungarian ID card.

• Application fee: HUF 5,000
• When your old ID expires the application fee is HUF 1,500
• Application will be free of charge for those over the age of 65, under 12, or minors applying for their first ID card. When damaged, a new card will be issued free of charge.

The new electronic ID card is valid for 6 years for citizens over the age of 18 and for 3 years in the case of minors.
