Hungary - Apply for Child Passport (Under 12)


Procedure

In person

  • The application form is available at the Consular Section.
  • Fill the application form with the complete information.
  • If the child can write, they will have to sign the form themselves.
  • The application form has to be signed by both the parents on the back in front of the member of the consular staff.
  • Submit the form and pay the prescribed fee.


By post

  • Send a letter to request for an application form enclosed with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
  • Fill the application form with the complete information.
  • If the child can write, they will have to sign the form themselves.
  • The application form has to be signed by both the parents on the back in front of a notary public or one of our honorary consuls. The signature and seal of the notary public must be officially endorsed by the Hungarian Embassy.
  • Send all the necessary documents along with a stamped, self-addressed return envelope(if you want the passport to be sent to you by post).





Required Documents

  • Passport application form
  • 3 coloured passport photographs
  • Expired or about to expire passport(if applicable)
  • Hungarian birth certificate of the child
  • Notary publics declaration as to identity and signature of applicant and/or parents, on a separate paper (for postal applications)
  • Passport fee (for postal applications)
    • witnessed by Notary Public: 64, in a Postal Order payable to the Embassy of Hungary
    • witnessed by Honorary Consul: 42, in a Postal Order payable to the Embassy of Hungary
  • Self-addressed, stamped return envelope (Special Delivery)

Fees

  • In person
    • 42.00, payable by cash or until the 25th day of the month by debit card.
  • By post
    • 64.00 or 42.00, payable in Postal Order




Validity

The validity of the passport varies on the age

  • Under 6 years of age - the passport will be valid for 3 years
  • Between 6 and 12 years of age - the passport will be valid for 5 years
