Private Service permit is required for a vehicle to transport more than six passengers on behalf of the owner for his business or trade like school or college bus.

Apply In-Person :

1. To apply for Private Service permit in Himachal Pradesh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : RTO Office

3. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
4. Application form can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
5. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
6. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, seating arrangements etch; will be carried by authorities.

Apply Online:

1. To apply for private service vehicle permit, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
2. In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
3. The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
4. Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
5. The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
6. Please follow the steps to complete the application.

3. Fitness Certificate.
4. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
5. Insurance Certificate.
6. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
7. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
8. The resolution of the RTA/STA or the order of the Court.
9. Aadhaar Card
10. Passport size photo-2
11. Pollution under control certificate
12. Proof of Address ( One of the following to be produced) :
    • Ration Card / Aadhaar Card / Electoral Roll / LIC Policy
13. Age Proof (any one of the following) :
