Haiti - Apply for a passport


Procedure

  1. Submit all the required document at the passport office
  2. If the document are verified an application form is provided
  3. Fill in the application form correctly
  4. Pay the application fee

To obtain a passport, the applicant must complete and sign an Application Form, which can be obtained at the Embassy

In certain circumstances, a Certificate of Travel may be issued in lieu of a passport to facilitate the travel of a Haitian national to Haiti. The Certificate is only valid for one (1) month and one (1) single trip.





Required Documents

  • The original Birth Certificate, an extract of the Birth Certificate from the National Archives of Haiti, or a copy of the original Birth Certificate;
  • Two forms of valid identification (ID) if the old passport is not available;
  • Two passport-sized, color photos on a white background, not older than three (3) months;
  • Original marriage certificate, if the applicant is a married woman;
  • Original divorce certificate if the applicant is a divorcee;
  • The husbands death certificate if the applicant is a widow;
  • A parental authorization signed by a parent or legal guardian, if the application is made on behalf of a minor.

Fees

Fees must be paid by Money Order, Certified Check or Cashiers Check

Regular Processing US $93.00

Rush Processing US $133.00

There is an additional shipping fee ($15 to $20) to have your passport mailed. The exact shipping cost will depend on the delivery location.




Validity

Passports are issued for five (5) years and no amendments are permitted during this period.

Any amendments will require the submission of a new application and payment of the passport fee.

Five (5) days for standard processing.

Two (2) hours for urgent, rush processing. Rush processing costs an additional forty dollars ($40).

  • An applicant must apply in person so that a consular agent can witness the signing of the necessary forms
  • Proof of citizenship is required since Haiti does not recognize dual citizenship
  • Applicants cannot obtain passports if they do not have a birth certificate,

Need for the Document

The Haitian passport is issued to citizens of Haiti for international travel. To obtain a Haitian passport, one must be a Haitian citizen and furnish proof thereof. The Haitian Constitution does not allow people who were born in Haiti but who later changed their nationality to obtain Haitian passports.
