Apply In-Person:
- A valid ration cardholder shall approach their respective ration shop of their area Or the district supply officers office as applicable to link ration card to Aadhaar card.

- Please visit the respective office as applicable.
- The applicant shall orally request the authority for linking the ration card with Aadhaar. Also, the applicant may obtain the application form if available.
- The authority will start the process immediately or the authority will ask the applicant to visit the office as per notified timing.
- At the time of process, the applicant need to submit the completed application form (if provided), photocopies of the Aadhaar cards of all the family members as well as a photocopy of the ration card along with the documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After receiving the application, the authorities will examine the application and other documents furnished. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- The applicant shall follow the guidelines of the authorities and provide the biometric details (fingerprints verification) on the EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) machine or as per the option available at the respective office.
- The applicant should make sure to keep the Aadhaar linked mobile number as well as the mobile number registered in the records for the corresponding ration card along with them at the time of applying.
- Once the above said steps are completed, the authority will provide an acknowledgement receipt. Please keep it safe for future reference.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification from the department.
- This application will be processed further. The applicant will receive another SMS notification upon the successful linking of both the documents.
- The entire process can be completed within 1 week or as per the timeline notified by the department.
Link Aadhaar with ration card through SMS
- The applicant shall use the following number to send an “SMS” as per the appropriate format given below: “51969”.
- Please type the message as “UID SEED <State Short Code> <Scheme/Program Short Code> <Scheme/Program ID> <Aadhaar Number>”
- The “<State Short Code>” is the state code. Please use the following link to get the respective State code Link
- The “<Scheme/Program Short Code>” is the scheme code as per the state norms.
- The “<Scheme/Program ID>” is the seven-digit code.
- The “<Aadhaar Number>” is the 12 digit unique Aadhaar number.
- On receipt of the application, an “SMS” notification will be sent to the applicant mobile number. Please save it for future reference and keep track of the notification.
- Finally, the applicant will receive the notification about the verification and successful linking of Aadhaar card with Ration card.
- The entire process can be completed within a week or as per the department notified timeline.

- Address proof of the applicant (PAN Card /Driving Licence / Bank Passbook / Electricity Bill / Telephone Bill)
- Identity proof of the applicant (Voter ID / Passport / Aadhaar card / Driving licence / Bank Passbook)
- Copy of ration card and original ration card
- Copy of Aadhaar card of the head of the family
- Copies of Aadhaar card of all family members as per ration card
- If the Aadhaar card is not linked with the bank account, please attach a photocopy of the bank account passbook
- Passport size photo of the head of the family
- Note:
- Always take original along with copy of document while applying.
- Apart from the above documents, the authorities may ask for additional information or documents. Please provide them for processing.

Eligibility
- A valid ration cardholder is eligible for linking ration card to Aadhaar card (It’s government norms too).

- Fee information can be obtained directly from the department office while applying.
Validity
- The validity of the ration card remains same
- Usually Family identity card is valid for lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on the announcement.

Instructions
- Application should be filled up in black ink.
- Please make sure to provide correct Aadhaar number.
- Incomplete application will be rejected.
- Do not submit fake documents as a proof.
- Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
- If it comes to notice of the department at a later date that particulars given by an applicant are either wrong or contrary to truth, the family card issued will be cancelled and action will be pursued against the applicant.

Need for the Document
- By linking ration card to Aadhaar will eliminate the fake ration card beneficiaries.
- As per the government policy, the citizens are directed to link the ration card to Aadhaar card.
- This initiative is aimed to ensure that the government benefits through schemes should reach the beneficiary directly.
- As the ration card is essential to apply for passport, PAN card or a domicile certificate or to even get the name registered for electoral rolls to get a Voter ID, the government have made this mandatory rule to avoid unnecessary malfunction.
- The eligible sections of the society are provided with food grains and other items at highly subsidized rates.
- In different states, the ration card is categorized as per classification fixed by the respective State government.
