1. Apply for the procedure in either of these offices:
   1. at the prefecture or sub-prefecture where you live (note: some sub-prefectures may not be equipped to process this type of application)
   2. in Paris, the Driving License Unit of the Police Headquarters.
2. Application can be done in person by approaching the counter or by post (sending a registered mail is not mandatory). Note: Applications sent by proxy are no longer accepted. If the driver's license holder is a minor (category AM) then it is the parents or the minor's guardian who should apply for the procedure.
3. After application, your new address will be recorded in the national system of driver's license, but you will not be issued a new license, even if you have an old pink license.

In Person:

• Photocopy of the driving license, the original must be presented at the counter
• Photocopy of ID (national identity card, passport etc.), the original must be presented at the counter
• Photocopy of proof of address (any administrative document to your name)
• For foreigners, a proof of residence in France (clear photocopy, front and back): valid residence permit or residence card, the original must be presented at the counter
