Apply In-Person

1. To Temporary Licence for Foreign Doctors in Ghana, the applicant must go to the Ghana Medical and Dental Council or Ministry of Health (MOH).

3. Information related to the MDC office and the License authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
4. Application form is available in the MDC office.
5. Visit the office and obtain the application forms to be completed for Doctor Temporary License for Foreign Doctors from the relevant department.
6. Complete the forms with appropriate information under the relevant sections. Attest the forms with the applicant’s signature once completed.
7. Once completed filling the application form, make sure that the applicant attached all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
8. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
9. Then, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office. Make the stipulated payment as directed by the officials.
10. After submission, the application and other documents will be forwarded for examination and verification processes.
11. Once the verification and validation processes are over and if the application is found sufficient, it will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps to issue the Temporary license.
12. When the document is ready to be collected, the applicant will receive a notification from the office through email or phone call regarding the collection and the applicant can collect them by any applicable means.
13. The processing time for this procedure takes 2 weeks.

• Any foreign doctor, who wishes to get registered as a practising doctor in Ghana, can apply.
• A foreign doctor without Additional qualification (i.e. Specialist degree) does not qualify to be registered by the Council and would be required to sit and pass Council's Assessment Examination before he/she could be registered.

• Application form and Registration fees: GHS. 40, 000.00.

• Validity for this registration is 1 year.
