4. Applicant will have to submit application either in Form no.7.
5. The applicant should make sure are eligible for applying for Protection order by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility “of this page.
6. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
7. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
8. Application form can be obtained from the appropriate JUIDICIAL office that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
9. You have to sign an affidavit about what your abuser has done to you. An affidavit is a form that that the applicant swears is true and sign in front of a notary or a Judge.
10. If the court finds you are in danger of harm, applicant will first get a Temporary Order of Protection.

•  A breach of protection order, or of an interim protection order, by the respondent shall be an offence under this Act and shall be punishable with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to twenty thousand rupees, or with both.

• If the applicant is reported to the police for breaching your restraining order, the police will usually sign a criminal complaint which means that you are then in contempt of court. You may also be arrested, depending on the type of order in place and the nature of the breach committed.
