Apply In-Person:

1. To Renewal of Banking Business License in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Bank of Ghana. Contact link
2. Application form for renewal of banking business license is available in Bank of Ghana.
3. Applicant should obtain the application form from BOG
4. The applicant should enter all the details in the application form.
5. Information related to the BOG office and the License authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
6. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
7. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
8. The completed application should be submit to the respective office.
9. After submission, the application and other documents will be forwarded for examination and verification processes.
10. Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps for renewal of the license.
11. When the document is ready to be collected, the applicant will be notified by the office and the applicant can collect it by any applicable means.
12. The processing time for this procedure takes one month.

Submission of:

• A copy of the certificate of incorporation.
• Registration Certificate from other recognized bodies.
• Tax clearance certificate from Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
• Copy of Audited Accounts of the previous year's operations
• The applicants memorandum and articles of association
• A certified copy of the resolution of the board
• A bank statement for the period of previous business
• Work permits for all non-Ghanaian directors and employees of the applicant

• Non-refundable renewal licensing fee: GH¢ 5,00.00

• Banking Business license validity is 18 months.

• Applicant must follow all instructions provided by the concerned authorities properly.

• Location of Commercial bank
• previous Commercial bank License Number
• Full names, addresses and designations of the employees of the bank.
• The name of the company
• The company's objects or authorized business
• That the company can enter into a legally binding agreement
• The name of the first directors of the company
• That the powers of the directors are limited in accordance with the law
• The number of shares in which the company is registered
• The number of shares each subscriber will own on incorporation and the amount payable for the shares
• A declaration that the liability of the members of the company is limited
• A business plan and financial projections (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow) for the first five (5) years of operations.

• It is mandatory for an organization that holds a banking business license obtained from the bank of Ghana, to renew the license every time its validity period expires.

• The Bank of Ghana may refuse a renewal application for a licence to carry on banking business if the Bank of Ghana is not satisfied with the merits of the application or in view of prevailing conditions in the banking sector or in keeping with its banking policy.
