Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew a Ground Instructor License in Ghana, the applicant has to contact the nearest Civil Aviation Authority Office in Ghana.

3. Application forms should obtain from the respective office.
4. Also, make sure that the applicant has all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
6. Submit the completed application form and pay the required application fee and submit the receipt as a proof of payment.
7. The receiving officers will check for discrepancies or ineligibility in the application documents. If a discrepancy that cannot be immediately corrected exists in any of the documents, the application and all the submitted documents will be returned to the applicant and should not be re-submitted until the discrepancy has been rectified /corrected.
8. If the receiving officers are satisfied that all the requirements have been met for the renewal of a license and the prescribed application form has been completed and presented in the Personnel Licensing (PEL) Office, the applicant will be advised to pay the prescribed renewal application fees, after which the license will be issued.
9. A renewal processing time of 7 days is needed to complete the processing of the Ground Instructor License application, after which the applicant will be contacted through a phone call to collect him/her new license at the GCAA’s Personnel Licensing offices.
10. Applicant will be required to carry his/her identification documents when collecting his/her renewed license.

An applicant for a ground instructor license shall:

• Be in possession of a valid or expired Ground Instructors certificate.
• A holder of a ground instructor license shall not perform the duties of a ground instructor unless within the twelve preceding months the person has served for three months as a ground instructor. This will be substantiated by a letter from the ATO where the Ground Instructor Tutors.

• A fee of GHS 2000 is charged for issuance of this license.

• The validity period is one year.

The applicant should:

• Make sure that they are eligible for the license.
• Obtain Application form from PEL Offices and complete the prescribed application form,
• Submit all the required documents.
• Pay the applicable fees and submit the payment receipt.
• Wait for the processing period to elapse then collect the applicant’s renewed Ground Instructor License.
