Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew Business Name (Sole Proprietor) in person, the applicant has to approach the Register General Department (RGD) office. Contact link
2. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
3. Applicant filled all details in the application form.
4. Applicant Provide the Full Name of the Business which is going to be in the declaration.
5. Then, applicant explain clearly state the Year for which renewal is requested in the declaration.
6. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
7. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
8. Applicants provide State the Date in the space provided in the format of (DD/MM/YYYY) in the declaration.
9. Then, the Applicants Provide the Signature in the space provided in the declaration.
10. Applicant should all relevant documents attached in application form.
11. The prescribed fee must be paid by the applicant, and the receipt of payment must be attached with the application form.
12. This Form must be signed by the individual and sent by post to the Registrar of Business Names, P. O. Box 118.
13. After,this application will be processed and information will be verified by the RGD office.
14. If the verification is successful, notification will be sent to the applicant.
15. The applicant after seeing the notification can go to the EPA office and applicant get the Renew certificate.
16. Generally, the processing time for this procedure is taken 2 to 3 weeks.

• Once in every year an individual or company registered under this Act shall deliver to the Registrar for registration a renewal notice in the prescribed form renewing the registration. (2) Without prejudice to any other liability prescribed by this Act, any registration which is not renewed in accordance with this section shall be deemed to have lapsed and the Registrar may remove from the register the business name.

• A Company may carry on Business under a Business Name which does not consist of its corporate name. This can be called a subsidiary of the parent Company with the Parent Company being the owner. A stamp of the Parent Company is required and signed by one of its existing directors or secretary
• You need to register a business name if you conduct business under a name other than your own. When you register a business name, you register it nationally. This means you can operate your business in any state or territory in West Africa.
