Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for Work Permit in Ghana is available in the Ghana Visa Application Centre (VAC) or Ghana immigration service office contact link
2. Applicants apply for visa online or on paper. If applicant apply on paper his/her will have to visit a visa application centre in Ghana and get their application form.
3. Applicant must provide necessary information in the application form.
4. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
5. Please refer to the fees details in the “Fees” section of this page.
6. If all above mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, then the processing time for this procedure for 1 month.
7. Depending on your situation, after your application is analysed, it is possible his/her will be called for a visa interview.
8. All required documents must be submitted. Incomplete application may cause delays in processing of the work permit.
9. Applicant will have to attend a visa interview during the application process.

• Application for the work permit shall be lodge at the Ghana Immigration Service. Forms for the application can be obtained from the Ghana Immigration Service office in Accra, Ghana. The forms ought to be completed and signed by the Applicant. The Applicant is expected to provide accurate and credible answers to all questions asked.

• Work permit is an approval granted by the Ghana immigration service (GIS) for the employment of foreign nationals specifying the number and description of persons authorized to be employed.

• In Ghana, no foreigner shall employ or accept employment unless that person is granted a work permit or immigrant quota. Work permit or Immigrant quota is an authorization granted to an employer or employee to engage in lawful and gainful employment in Ghana. The work permit or immigrant quota specifies the job title. It indicates the employer by whom that person is employed, and the holder cannot engage in any other employment, business, profession or occupation in Ghana for reward than what is specified by the work permit or Immigrant quota.
