Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain a Business certificate in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly (ABWMA). Contact link
2. Applicants approach the ABWMA office and the applicant can get their application.
3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
4. Applicant must make sure to carry all the necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
5. Write an application or introductory letter to the Municipal Chief Executive stating the Name of Business, Type of Business and Location of Business.
6. Apart from the cost of the Permit Application Form and Processing Fees, all other costs are arrived after going through each process based on the fee fixing resolution of the Assembly for that year.
7. The Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
8. The Fee fixing Resolution for each year is published on the Assembly’s Website and copies can also be purchased as the Ghana Publishing Company (Assembly Press).
9. Cross check of the relevant documents with the Registrar General Department and other issuing authority like the Bank of Ghana for financial institutions.
10. Inspection of office premises if necessary.
11. A bill is generated and served on the applicant with reference to the Local Government Act (Act 462) sections 34, 78, 94, 98 and also in accordance with the Fee Fixing Resolution of the GA South Municipal Assembly depending on the type and location of the business.
12. Collect the certificate of business operating once the process is complete.
13. It takes 15 working days to complete the registration.

• The GA South Municipal Assembly requires that anyone or organization intending to carry on a business or profession as a whole should first endeavour to apply for an Operating Licence to make legal the existence of the business.
• An Application for this licence is done at the Revenue Unit of the Municipality on the ground floor as indicated earlier.

• Once his/her business clientele begins to expand, it will become difficult for the applicant to clinch those big deals without a fully registered business. Thus the applicant needs to acquire a Business certificate to make the business formal and legal by law.
