Apply via Agent
Apply In-Person:
- ToObtain Milk Processor licenseis done in person by visiting the Agriculture and Food Authority Board Head Offices in Ghana.
- Address and contact details can be found in the following contact link
- Visit the office and get an application form for a Milk Processor licenseas applicable to your requirement, from the respective department.
- Make sure that his/her have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
- Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
- Once completed filling the application form, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office.
- Pay the necessary application fees and licensing fees for obtaining a Milk Processor License.
- After submission, the application and other documents will be forwarded for examination and verification processes.
- Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps to issue the permit.
- When the document is ready to be collected, the applicant will receive a formal notification from the office and the applicant can collect it by any applicable means.
- New licenses take a maximum of 14 days to process.

Instructions
- No person should operate a milk processor unless the person holds a licence issued by the Ghana Food department.
- The department, in considering an application, takes into account the interests of other producers and consumers in respect of which the application is made.

Need for the Document
- Processor license is issued to milk processors whose capacity exceeds 5,000 litres per day. Its purpose is to regulate the operations of processing units through surveillance to safeguard consumer interest and protect consumer against possible contamination.
The Board may refuse to issue a new license or may suspend or cancel an existing license if the Board is satisfied that:
- The producer’s standards of performance are unsatisfactory.
- The issue is not, or the suspension or cancellation, is in the interest of other producers and of consumers.
- The conditions of a licence have not been fulfilled.
- The applicant or licensee has failed to remit, within the prescribed period, any cess due by the applicant or licensee to the Board.
- The applicant or licensee has not paid dairy farmers for milk delivered to the applicant or licensee.
