Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain License for Domestic Wiring Installation in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Ghana Electricity Commission office contact link
2. Applicants can obtain the application form from the Ghana Electricity Authority office.
3. An applicant shall submit a signed application letter addressed to the Executive Secretary of the Commission.
4. Applicants shall fill and submit one original application form signed by a Principal Officer.
5. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. Applicants shall attach receipt confirming the payment of prescribed licence application fee.
7. Applicants shall provide 3 hard copies and a soft copy (if available) of the above exhibits as separate attachment, clearly labelled and all pages sequentially numbered.
8. The applicant shall provide the receipt confirming the payment of the Initial Licence fee after the Commission has communicated the Outcome of its Decision on an application to the applicant and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
9. The submitted details will be verified by respective receiving authority. If all the details and documents are in place, application will be accepted.
10. Applicant will get a receipt as acknowledgement for the submission of application.
11. This application will be processed by the respective department.
12. Applicant gets notification about the issuance.
13. After seeing this notification, the applicants must go to the respective office and the applicants get their license.
14. The processing time for this procedure takes 10 working days.

Copies of the following documents shall be enclosed

• 3 hard copies and a soft copy
• Certificate of Registration
• Certificate to Commence Business
• Copies of the applicant's financial arrangements to conduct electricity business as a business activity (e.g., guarantees, bank commitments, contractual arrangements, credit agreements, etc.).
• Two years of forecasted financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement)
• Evidence that the applicant has the capacity to comply with the license conditions, codes and guidelines relevant to its application
• Passport size picture (write your name and phone number behind picture)
• Original copy of pay-in slip to the form
• Proof of identity (citizen card/ driving license/ passport /if any)

• The Electrical domestic Wiring installation license is issued to qualified personnel certified to undertake safe electrical wiring in accordance with the Electrical Wiring Regulation, 2011 (L.I.2008).

Notes:

• Energy Commission reserves the right to review license fees by Public Notice.
• EPC is the Engineering and Procurement Contract
• Initial Licence Fee: This is a one-time payment fee for a new license for construction of a facility
• Annual License Fee: This is an annual payment for the maintenance of valid existing licenses
• Amendment Fee of 50% of the Application fee shall be charged.

• A licensed electrician will be appointed for erection of electrical wiring.
