Apply In-Person:

1. To obtain interstate Movement permit for Dogs and Cats in person, the applicant has to contact/visit the Ghana Veterinary Service offices to make the application.

3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
4. Applicant should read carefully in the application form, after all details must be filled in the application form.
5. The applicant must proof to the Veterinary officer that while in transit, Dogs and Cats shall not come into contact with other animals. To ensure this the veterinary officer must make sure that each pet is appropriately crated.
6. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
7. Please make sure that the applicant has to pay the fees that are listed down the “fees” section of this page.
8. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the respective office.
9. The next step is the Animal health inspector officer from the Authority to inspect the Dogs, cats and small Pets to be transported before the permit is approved.
10. This application will be processed and the information will be verified by the MOFA.
11. If all the information is verified, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
12. The applicant after seeing the notification can go to the MOFA office and the applicant get the movement permit.
13. It will take 30 days to process the applicant application.

• All dogs and cats 4 months of age and older must have a current rabies vaccination certificate.
• Most airlines require a health certificate issued by a licensed and accredited veterinarian within seven to 10 days of travel.

• Processing fee payable at the bank.
• Export Permit, obtained from Veterinary Department, prior to departure.
• A certified copy of the pet owner’s passport.
