Apply In-Person:

1. To Export of Goods in person, the applicant must visit the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
2. Address and contact details can be found in the following Contact link
3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the respective Authority.
4. Fill in the application form as prescribed by the Authority. Please give full particulars of the applicant or company applying for the licence.
5. Applicant must attached the all the required documents in the application form and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. A fee has to be paid as per as authority’s request.
7. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the GRA office.
8. Upon receipt of an application, the Authority shall review the application to ensure that all the relevant documents are available to enable the processing of the application.
9. Where, upon review of an application under sub-regulation, the Authority finds that the application is incomplete; the Authority shall request the applicant to provide additional information or clarify the information provided.
10. The Authority shall, within three months after receipt of an application or additional information, investigate and prepare a detailed report in respect of the application to enable the processing of the application.
11. After considering the application and the report, the Authority may grant a person approval certificate to removal goods from free zone port.
12. The processing time for this procedure takes 1 day.

Note: Where commissioner general rejects an application for removal of goods, the commissioner general shall cause an endorsement giving reason for rejection to be made on the reverse side of the application form informing the free port zone operator of the rejection.

• A strategic goods export permit is required for the export of goods controlled under the Strategic Goods (Control) Act. The table shows the period to submit your export permit application for the various types of goods: Type of Goods.

For exporting the goods, the forwarding agent first obtains a permit from the customs department. II. He/she must disclose all the required details of the goods to be exported such as nature, quantity, and weight to the shipping company. The forwarding agent has to prepare a shipping bill/order.

Please explain what are other uses of obtaining this document/certificate.
e.g. Birth Certificate can be used as proof of identity.
