Apply In person
- For Certification of Passport in person, the applicant has to approach the Ghana Visa Application Centre (VAC) or Ghana immigration service office Contact link
- Write a request for certification of passport addressed to the passport control office, and attach all the required documents to it.
- The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
- Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
- Applicant can pay the money to certify the passport at any GRA revenue collection bank such as the Bank of Ghana, Diamond Trust Bank, Stannic, Barclays, Orient, etc. Certification of a passport in Ghana will cost the applicant Ghs 30, 000 per copy and this is exclusive of bank charges
- After paying the money, you’ll attach the payment receipt to the rest of the documents.
- Visit the passport control office and present the applicant passport for certification.
- The assisting officer will verify all the information you have provided and forward you application to be processed.
- After two days visit the passport control office where he/she made the applicant application to collect the applicant passport.
- Generally, the processing time for this procedure is 2 days.
Required Documents
- Present 4 scanned copies of bio-data of passport to be certified.
- Attach Original passport for which certification is sought.
- Attach written request for certification addressed to the Passport Control Officer
- Attach 2 passport size photo
- Attach bank slip to application for certification.

Eligibility
- All Ghanaian passport holders are eligible to get certification for their passports after obtaining them.
Fees
- The certification fee is GHS. 30,000 (Ghana Shillings) per copy.

- Passport Validity for 10 years.

Need for the Document
- It is important to get his/her passport certified to prove its authenticity.
- If applicant has used-up all the pages of your passport and damaged your passport, you may request for a new passport to be issued. Attach the old passport when you apply for a new one. In case of a damaged passport with valid visa, apply for a new passport and then to the Embassy concerned for a replacement passport.
Other uses of the Document/Certificate
- Applicant will require a student passport when the applicants are applying for student visa.
