Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for Subsidiary Business Name registration certificate, the applicant must go to the Registrar General Department (RGD) office Contact link
2. Applicants approach the RGD office and applicants can get their application form for Register Subsidiary Business Name.
3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
4. To reserve a company name, the entrepreneur submits the Business Name Reservation Form to the assessment window of the RGD office.
5.  If the name passes the similarity, defensive, offensive, and desirability tests, it is reserved for a period of 30 days. There are name-reservation books where the entrepreneur can search and check whether the desired name was approved or rejected and for what reasons.
6. Applicant must make sure to carry all the necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
7. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the applicant from while submitting it at the office.
8. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
9. If all the above mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the application form will be viewed by the concerned authorities and the applicant’s business will be registered on which he/she will receive a certificate of subsidiary business name registration and its number.
10. The Processing time for this procedure is 7 days.

• Applicant may pick up a prescribed Form C from the in-house bank at GHS 3.50
• Submit filled forms at the Subsidiary Registration Counter for Verification and Capturing Pay processing fee of GHS60.00 at the in-house bank
• Registrar Examines, Approves and issues Subsidiary Name Registration Certificate
• CERTIFIED TRUE COPY(CTC) of Form A
• Subsidiary business name registration number

• A Ghanaian LLC can be formed by a single shareholder, who must appoint two directors. While all can be foreigners, one of the directors must be ordinarily resident in Ghana.

• Applicant will have to register every business his/her like to run as a Subsidiary Company to his/her Holding Company. Also, if the Subsidiary Companies to his/her Holding Company have various owners, it can be difficult to close a Holding Company, as there are multiple owners to consult.

• Applicant need to register a business name if his/her conduct business under a name other than his/her own. When applicants register a business name, he/she register it nationally. This means the applicant can operate his/her business in any state or territory in West Africa.
