Apply In-Person

1. Applicant who would like to Apply for New Electricity Connection should contact the customer service centre of electricity company of Ghana or energy company in Ghana contact link
2. Applicant approach the electricity office and applicant must request for new electricity connection, also, applicant get their application form for new electricity connection.
3. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.( Both photocopies and originals)
4. Please refer to the fees details in the “Fees” section of this page.
5. The Applications form should be completed and submitted to the customer service representative.
6. After the submission of the application form, an inspection team will visit and survey the site for providing quotation and estimate.
7. If the necessary conditions are satisfied, the quotation for the cost of electricity supply to your premises will be ready within 3 days, if a supply line already exists or 5 working days if the service connection requires a supply line extension or up to 2 poles.
8. After the full payment of quotation by the prospective customer, the electricity connection will be made within 3 or 5 days.

• Certified copy of proof of ownership of the property, such as sale deed.
• If the applicant is not the property’s owner, a consent letter from the owner in form format or valid proof of occupancy.
• Indemnity bond in form are required.
• If the applicant requires a load of more than 112KW, he/she needs to scan the undertaking form and submit the PDF.
• National identification card.
• Residential address proof
• Signed by the licensed Electrician who under took the wiring of the Customers house or premises.
• A development or Building Permit issued by the relevant Metropolitan, Municipal or District Assembly (SHEP Areas are Exempt) from this requirement.

• If the applicant is a new home buyer in the Ghana city, the applicant should have to apply for a new electricity connection for your new home.

• In Ghana the standard voltage is 230v and the frequency is 50 MHz you can use your electric appliances in Ghana, if the standard voltage in your company is in between 220-240 v (as is in the UK, Europe, Australia and most of Asia and Africa).

Please explain what are other uses of obtaining this document/certificate.
e.g. Birth Certificate can be used as proof of identity.
