Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Food Business Operator (FBO) License is done in person by visiting the Ministry of Food and Agriculture Head Offices or Food and Drug Authority in Ghana Contact link
2. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
3. Applicant must provide all the necessary information in the application form.
4. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
6. Submit the completed application form along with the supporting documentation as listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. The FDA will dispatch an inspector to the facility premises for inspection to determine if Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Storage Practice (GSP) during the packing, processing, storage, labelling, sterilizing, testing, dispatch, quality control, and quality assurance of the products.
8. A copy of the report finding will be given to the applicant and if any modification or upgrading is required, Corrective Action and Preventive Action Report (CAPA) report will be issued and the applicant will be required to rectify the problem.
9. Upon successful implementation of the CAPA, a follow-up inspection may be conducted by the inspection team to ascertain the effectiveness of the implementation (where applicable).
10. If the Expert committee formed by the FDA are satisfied that all the conditions are met as required for the application, the applicant will be notified of the outcome and issued with the license by the register/authorized official.
11. Generally, the processing time for this procedure is 1 month.

• Cooperative certificate if applicable
• NOC & copy of license from manufacturers (in case of repacking)
• Raw material source (Milk/meat)

• NOC from municipality or local body
• Any other additional document information, samples, and materials.
