Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant can apply for East Africa Passport by applying to the Comptroller-General of Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) office.

3. The Applicant has to approach the Ghana Immigration Service centre and the applicant can get their application form.
4. Read through the instruction carefully and fill it accurately with a clear handwriting and sign it
5. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. A fee has to be paid as per as the authority’s request.
7. Upon printing out the acknowledgement payment receipt applicant should Head to the designated bank the applicant had chosen on the GIS fee application form and make the necessary payment upon which will be issued with a bank receipt slip as a proof of payment.
8. File the applicant documents in a manila file folder and present them in person to the receiving officers at the Passport Receiving Section at the GIS or his/her nearest Passport Control Office or the Regional Immigration Office.
9. The attending official who will verify his/her document and then take his/her bio-metric information, upon which the applicant will be issued with a slip indicating his/her receiving code and file number.
10. Collect the applicant passport in Person after ten working days (normal passport applications) or two (2) working days (for Express Passport Applications) from the point where the applicant submitted the application, unless advised otherwise by an Immigration Officer. Applicant will be required to present his/her Receiving Slip and identifications at the time of collecting the applicant’s passport at the Passport Delivery Office.
11. Maximum Processing Time for this procedure is 2 to 3 weeks.

• The East Africa passport enables East Africa Community countries citizen to be able to travel and reside within the East Africa boards freely without the need of applying for a visa (expect in Sudan) for a period of six months and can be extended when the time elapse.
