Ghana - Apply for E-Citizen Account


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Register for an E-Citizen Account in Ghana, the applicant visit the ministry of interior or Ghana embassy office contact link
  2. The applicant has to approach the Ghana embassy office and the applicant must obtain the application form.
  3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
  4. After filling form, the applicant attaches all the required documents and submits the application to any immigration service office. At the immigration office applications are viewed to prove legality of documents and correctness of information given. Also, make sure that the application has all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
  5. There is no fee for this procedure.
  6. After submission of applications, applicants are entitled to investigation by the Ghana Immigration Office. After investigation a report is compiled and submitted to the interior minister.
  7. In addition to investigation, the applicants are published in the Gazette within three months after the application. The name, particulars and other details of a person applying for registration are shown in the gazette.
  8. After oath is taken, it is endorsed on the certificate of E-citizenship account.
  9. After endorsement and after satisfaction that conditions have been complied, a certificate of registration is issued.
  10. The Processing time for this procedure is 6-12 months.

  • Six passport size photographs.
  • Evidence of Ghanaian nationality (parent’s nationality –photocopy of passport or birth certificate/ voter’s ID card/Ghanaian passport) or alien card
  • Photocopy of the receipt issued when the application form was purchased.

  • Particulars of dependents (under 16 years) included on application

  • E-Citizen enables Citizens and Foreign Residents to apply for Government to Citizen (G2C) services and pay via mobile money, debit Cards and e-Citizen agents.




Information which might help

  • For Renunciation of Ghanaian Citizenship, an applicant must submit the following documents.
  • Completed renunciation application form.
  • Application Letter.
  • Identification documents.
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae including the names and addresses of parents or any relations living in Ghana).
  • Six (6) passport size photographs.
  • Renunciation is only legal after a renunciation certificate is signed by the Interior Minister.

  • E-Citizen is organised to serve his/her needs without he/she having to know which government agency is responsible for a particular service, policy or programme.
  • E-Services are a directory of all e-Services offered by the Government. Applicants can easily find an e-Service using search, or by filtering the agency and type of service.
