Ghana - Apply for Bicycle Licence


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Bicycle Licence in Ghana, the applicant should contact the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority Head Office.
  2. Address and contact details can be found in the following Contact link
  3. Applicant has to approach the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority Head Office in Ghana and the applicant can get their application form.
  4. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
  5. Applicant must make sure to carry all the necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
  6. Please refer to the fees details in the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. Attach two passport size photos and appropriate documents.
  8. Submit the application form along with the documents to one of the counter.
  9. This application will be processed and information will be verified by the authority.
  10. If the verification is successful, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
  11. The applicant after seeing the notification can go to the respective office and applicant get the license.
  12. The processing time for this procedure is 5 days.

  • Police Certificate (FIR) in case of loss of R.C.
  • Completed health check report.
  • Your passport photos.

Validity

  • Registration of a Bicycle is Valid Forever until the owner decides to sale the Bicycle.

  • Permanent Address
  • Temporary Address
  • Full Vehicle Details
  • Information about the Bicycle (type, model, horse power)
  • Residential address of the applicant
  • Nationality of the applicant
  • Tin number and password





Need for the Document

  • Registering a Bicycle is not a legal requirement for all owners though the law stipulates in the Local Government Act, Cap. 243 of the Ghana laws, this is only done to prove that one is the legal owner of the Bicycle.

  • Government Act, Cap. 243 Regulation 13 (g) provides that Local Government Revenues shall consist of bicycle licenses revenues.
