Procedure
Apply via Agent
- Apply to obtain a Non Commercial Driver's License at any CSC location.
- Applicants must submit documents that shows their identity, residential address, full social security number, U.S. citizenship or proof of lawful presence in the United States and other required documents.
- Pay the fees.
- Pass the Vision and Non-Commercial Knowledge Exam.
Vision Exam
Your eyes will be tested by means of a mechanical device. The minimum acceptable vision is 20/60 in one eye, with or without corrective lenses, and a field of vision of, at least, 140 degrees. Upon failure of the field vision exam the applicant will be required to have a DS-274 completed by a licensed practitioner.
Knowledge Exam
The Knowledge Exam consists of two tests the Road Rules Test and the Road Signs Test. The applicant must pass each test. To pass the exam applicants must get a minimum of 15 out of 20 correct answers, on each test.

When you take the knowledge exam, you must be at the Customer Service Center 30 minutes before it closes, to allow adequate time for testing and issuance.
Required Documents
- Applicants must submit documents that shows their identity, residential address, full social security number, and U.S. citizenship or proof of lawful presence in the United States. Checklist of accepted documents
- In case a valid Georgia driver's license cannot be presented at the time of testing/issuance, applicant must provide an item from Lost or Stolen Driver's License Requirements.
- Applicants must also submit a driving affidavit Form DS-36 signed by a Public Agency Employer (or self-certify) attesting that driving requirements have been met.
- All documents must be in English and any documents written in a foreign language must be translated into English.

Eligibility
- To apply, you must be at least 18 years of age.
- A minimum of 3 months or 3,000 miles driving experience in a vehicle representing the driver's license class for which you are applying.
- Possess a valid Georgia driver's license.
Notes:
- Any resident not required to possess a commercial driver's license but operates a Class A or B motor vehicle for the purposes listed in conditions/restrictions must obtain a non-commercial Class E or F driver's license.
- There are no endorsements for non-commercial Class E or F driver's license.

Note:
Non-Citizens, Short Term fee of $20.00 applies.
- If there is an expiration date on the Immigration documents then the driver's license expiration date will match the expiration of the Immigration documentations, but not to be issued for more than 5 years.
- If there is no expiration date on the Immigration documents and the customer is a Lawful Permanent Resident, Asylee, Refugee then the driver's license will be issued for 5 years.
- If there is no expiration date on the Immigration documents and the customer is not a Lawful Permanent Resident, Asylee, Refugee then the driver's license will be issued for a maximum of 1 year.

Need for the Document
Following are procedures on how you can obtain a Non Commercial Driver's License in Georgia.
Conditions/Restrictions:
For Agricultural Vehicles:
- Must be driven and/or operated by the farmer, relatives of the farmer, or employees of the farmer.
- Must be used to transport agricultural products, farm machinery or farm supplies to or from a farm.
- Must be operated within 150 miles of the farm.
- Must not be operating as a common carrier (for profit or trade/barter).
For Firefighter/ Emergency Vehicles:
- Must be equipped with lights and a siren.
- Must be a vehicle necessary for the preservation of lives or property or the execution of emergency governmental.
- Must function as a fire truck, hook and ladder truck, foam or water transport truck, police special operations vehicle or ambulance.
- Must be exempt from normal traffic regulations when operating as an authorized emergency vehicle.
- Must operate the appropriate class of vehicle when accompanied by a person who is licensed to drive that class of vehicle, who is fit and capable of exercising control of the vehicle, and who is occupying a seat beside the driver.
For Military Vehicles:
- Must be operated by military personnel or civilians who are required to wear military uniforms
For Recreational Vehicles:
- Operators of recreational vehicles
