Apply In-Person:

1. The Single Status Certificate is issued by the authorities in the Fiji’s BDM Registrar Office. Contacts
2. The applicant must obtain the application form from the authorities in the Fiji BDM Registrar office.
3. The application form must be filled with necessary details.
4. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The filled application form must be submitted to the authorities in the Fiji’s BDM Registrar Office.
6. The prescribed fee must be paid by the applicant, and the receipt of payment must be attached with the application form.
7. After the verification, the Single Status Certificate or Certificate of No Legal Impediment will be sent to the applicant’s address.
8. The processing time will be intimidated which the application is made in the BDM office.

• National identity card or Passport.
• Proof of address.
• If divorced, Decree Absolute.
• If widowed, Death Certificate of previous spouse (and Marriage Certificate).
• If your name has been changed by Deed Poll, proof is necessary.
• The prescribed fee.

• The applicant must be single to apply for the “Single Status Certificate or Certificate of No Legal Impediment.

• The overseas applicants who wishes to marry in Fiji should provide “Single Status Certificate” to the Fiji Government.
• This is applicable to all overseas countries. (No exemptions)

• Name of the applicant
• Previous Marital Status (If any)
• Current Residential Address

The Single status certificate is required,

• If the marriage is between non-residents marrying in Fiji.
• If the marriage is between a non-resident marrying a Fiji citizen.
• If the marriage is by former citizens of Fiji with two years & above residency abroad.

The Need of Single Status Certificate came into existence in Fiji only after 2017.
