Apply via Agent
Apply In-Person:
- The Marriage registration in Fiji must be made in the Registry Office. Contacts
- The couple willing to marry should first register their intent in the Registry office.
- After the registering, the officer will make appointment for the completion of the Fijian registry requirements and the marriage service.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Upon successful registration, the couples will have 21 days to proceed with the marriage ceremony.
- After the completion of marriage, the partners can apply for the Marriage certificate.
Required Documents
- Original or certified copy of birth certificates.
- Passport.
- Decree Absolute document if divorced
- Death Certificate if spouse had died.
- Statutory Declaration signed by a Justice of Peace or Notary Public or Solicitor to prove that the persons are not married. [this declaration both applies to first or the second marriage]
- Consent of the father if under the age of 21 years or mother if father is deceased.
- Minimum age for marriage in Fiji is 16 years and above for female and 18 years and above for male.
- Names of two witnesses who are 21 years of age or over. Couples must present themselves together to apply for the license.

- To legally register the marriage, the marrying Fiji Citizen must be 21 years of age or above.
- They must have all the necessary documents.

- Decorated certificate of birth or marriage - $54.50 15.
- Notice of marriage and declaration - $16.35 16.
- Application for special licence - $54.50 17.
- Registrar-General or district registrar solemnising marriage (including certificate of marriage) - $54.50 18.
- Registrar-General or district registrar solemnising marriage outside office after normal office hours (including certificate of marriage) - $109.00 19.
- Civil marriage celebrants registration fee - $3,270.00
- Certificate of marriage - $27.25 3.
- Decorated certificate of marriage - $81.75
Validity
The marriage registration is valid for lifetime, unless either spouses applies for annulment or divorce.

Instructions
- Marriages in Fiji are solemnized by the Government Officers or Ministry of Religions of the Christian faith, or other suitably qualified persons professing any recognized religion, must first be registered as a marriage officer.
- The party who intend to get married should satisfy themselves that the marriage officer or celebrant assign to solemnize their marriage has already been registered.
- Couples must present themselves together to apply for the license.
- Every marriage shall be performed in the presence of at least two witnesses who can sign their names and are 21 years of age or over.
