Fiji - Enroll in Exchange Program of Library Materials


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Enroll in Exchange Program of Library Materials with the Library of Congress in Fiji, the institution must contact the acquisition division of the Library of Congress. Contacts
  2. Based on the geographic location, the institution must contact the chief of the acquisition division.
  3. The Library of Congress has exchange arrangements with over 4000 institutions all around the world.
  4. The acquisition division to contact for the enquiries based on the geographic locations are:
    • The countries of Iberia, Latin America, South America, the Caribbean region, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Italy should contact the African, Latin American and Western European Division.
    • The countries of Israel, China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan should contact the Asian and Middle Eastern Division.
    • The countries of Scandinavia and the Baltic region, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Russia, and East Central and Southeast Europe should contact the Germanic and Slavic Division.
    • The remaining countries of Asia and the countries of Africa and to inquire about the Cooperative Acquisitions Programs should contact the Acquisitions and Bibliographic Access Directorate.
    • The countries of United States, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Oceania, Papua-New Guinea, United Kingdom should contact U.S./Anglo Division.
  5. The chief of the acquisition division will verify the institution background.
  6. After the verification, the LC team will approve the institution to exchange materials with LC.
  7. After the approval, the institute can exchange the materials from the LC.
  8. The fee for this procedure will be intimated to the Institution while contacting for the enquiry.
  9. The processing time for approving the exchange policy will be intimated to the Institution while contacting the chief in the Library of Congress.

  • The Library of Congress has purchase arrangements with book dealers around the world for newly published U.S. and foreign material.
  • Therefore, if there are any new and rare collections, then the seller or the dealer can contact the LC and have purchase agreements.

  • If any of the institutions wants to exchange materials or books with the Library of Congress in Fiji, they must officially contact the acquisition division team.
  • Only after getting the confirmation and exchange policy agreements from the LC, the institution can exchange the materials they want from the LC.
