Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Biosecurity Import Clearance, the applicant must go to the Biosecurity of Authority office in Fiji. Contact Link
2. The applicant must obtain the appropriate application form from the authorities in the Biosecurity office.
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form should be filled with necessary details, and along with the required documents, it should be submitted to the approved authority in Biosecurity office.
5. The prescribed fee payment must be made and the receipt must be attached along with the application form.
6. After submitting the application, the respective authorities will inspect and check the samples of Import article or consignments.
7. If the biosecurity officer is satisfied by that the article or consignment meets the biosecurity requirements, then the Biosecurity Import clearance certificate will be granted to the applicant. (If any of the requirements is/are not fulfilled, then the biosecurity officer has all the rights to refuse the import clearance certificate)
8. The prescribed fee details and the processing time will be intimated to the applicant while applying.

Every good imported must apply for the Biosecurity Import clearance certificate and get it approved.

The fee details for the application will be intimated to the applicant while applying.

The import clearance certificate validity will be mentioned in the certificate issued to the applicant.

E.g., the state office holds birth records since January 1908.

• All the details about the article or consignment imported.
• Country of origin of the article or consignment
• Nature and Quantity of the article or consignment
  

Without the import clearance certificate, none of the article or consignment can be brought into the Fiji.

The cost of taking an article to a biosecurity holding area, and of keeping it there, is to be borne by the importer of the article, and no compensation is payable for any loss or destruction or consequential loss caused as a result of the taking or keeping, unless negligence or malice is proved.

Please explain what are other uses of obtaining this document/certificate.
E.g., Birth Certificate can be used as proof of identity.
