Faroe Islands - Apply for a passport


Procedure

  1. Complete application form
  2. Submit the application in person at the Danish Immigration Services Citizen Service. If you live outside the Greater Copenhagen area, you can also submit the application at the local police station.
  3. Pay the application fee
  4. Your new passport will be sent to your official address, as recorded in the Central Office of Civil Registration (CPR)

  1. Applicants can apply for a Danish passport at the Embassy or Danish mission abroad
  2. Applications must be submitted in person (regardless of age)
  3. The Embassy will take a digital photograph of children over the age of 3.
  4. For children under 3, please bring a passport photo:
    1. Fingerprints are collected from children from the age of 12 and a digital signature from the age of 5.
  5. A parent living outside the UK or Denmark must go to a Danish Embassy/Consulate in their country of residence to give consent by filling in the consent form on page 3 of the passport application form. This should then be faxed (+44 207 333 0266) or e-mailed (lonamb@um.dk) together with a copy of his/her passport (with signature page)

Original birth certificate or certificate of naming Photo identification

If you are applying for a passport for an unnamed child, you must present a birth certificate

If you cannot furnish photo identification with your CPR-number, you must present documentation for your CPR-registration (national insurance card)

If you have a residence card, you must bring it

Photograph requirements

  • The photograph should bear a close resemblance to your current appearance
  • You should be facing the camera directly and the photograph must be suitable for scanning
  • The background must be uniform (light) colored without motives
  • Your eyes must be open and not covered by hair, eye glasses or the like. Your mouth may not be open
  • Head wear is permitted only if you for religious reasons request this. *The forehead, chin and cheeks must be visible
  • The photograph must measure 35mm x 45mm. Your head should measure 30mm x 36mm from the tip of the chin to the top of the hair

Citizens of Faroe Island are eligible for a Danish passport




Fees

Fees vary by age of applicant:

65 years or older: DKK 376

18-64 years: DKK 626

12-17 years: DKK 141

11 years or younger: DKK 115

Fees must be paid at the time of application




Validity

The passport is valid for five years and should be renewed

Only bio metric passports are issued

Faroese passport do not have the European Union logo

Need for the Document

The Faroe Islands have been a self-governing country within the Danish Realm

The Faroese have taken control of most domestic matters. Areas that remain the responsibility of Denmark include military defense, police,justice, currency and foreign affairs

Danish passports are issued to citizens of Faroe Island

Different versions of passport exist for nationals of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands although all citizens have the same nationality.

The Faroese version is green. And contain the Danish Coat of Arms even though Danish and Greenlandic versions of the passport have burgundy color covers,
