Apply In-Person:

1. For reserving a company name, the applicant has to conduct a search at Ministry of Trade and Industry contact link for knowing the availability of their proposed name.
2. After knowing the availability, applicant has to provide necessary information in an application form and submit it at the Ministry.
3. Applicant must carry all related documents for the procedure to complete while applying for this procedure.
4. Documents that are necessary for this procedure to complete are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Fee for this procedure are:
   • Stamp duty fee of 350 Birr
   • Service charge and Name search of 10 Birr for 4 copies of Memorandum of Association
   • Additional fee for completion of the process will come between 5,000 and 10,000 Birr.
6. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents along with the application form while submitting.
7. If all the above-mentioned procedures were followed properly, the procedure will be completed within a month by visiting the office or via post.

Any Ethiopian Citizen who owns a firm or company is eligible for reserving their company name.

Fee for this procedure is:

• Stamp Duty fee of 350 Birr
• Service charge and name search of 10 Birr for 4 copies of Memorandum of Association

• Proposed or names chosen by the applicant must not be similar to any other registered company names.

Owner of a firm or company must reserve their company name with Ethiopian Trade and Industry office to own the company name and claim the name for themselves.

• Applicant must make a company seal that is specifically designed and can be commonly used.
• Company must have a bank account under the company name as company’s bank account.
