Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew Fishing Permit the applicant has to visit the Ministry of Agriculture in Ethiopia. location link
2. To renew your fishing permit in Ethiopia the applicant has to make the application in writing to the Commissioner in such form and manner as may be prescribed by the Commissioner.
3. Application form for Renewing fish permit will be given by the authority office.
4. Applicant has to fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
5. Make sure that you have all the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Applicant has to attach the photocopies along with the application form and pay the application fee and submit the receipt as a proof of payment.
7. Officers from the commissioner’s office will carry out inspections on the craft, fishing gear and other equipment to ensure that they comply with the required standards.
8. The Commissioner may, before considering the renewal require the applicant-
   • To satisfy him that the craft is properly constructed and equipped and the form and construction of the fishing nets, fishing gear and other equipment intended for use in fishing are adequate for the purpose of the fishing operation;
   • To supply such other information as he may require to enable him to reach a decision on the renewal application.
9. If everything is in order they will continue to process your application. After processing, the applicant will be issued with the renewed Fishing Permit

A person is required to obtain a valid fishing license prior to fishing in inland waters or transporting fish taken from inland waters. A person is required to keep his/her fishing license with him/her at all times while fishing or transporting fish and must exhibit their license for inspection by any warden, department employee, guide or landowner upon request.
