Apply In-Person:

1. Application for renewal a Student Pilot Licence (SPL), the applicant has to approach Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority contact link
2. Applicant has to get the respective form and fill the form with the required details and attested with the applicant signature.
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. Applicant must have both photocopies and originals of the required documents.
5. And pay the renewal fee of 1000birr and attach the receipt for the proof of payment with the application form.
6. After completion of the form then it should be submitted to the relevant authority.
7. Upon the successful registration, the renewal of license will be issued within 30days.

Any person having valid student Pilot license are eligible for this application.

Renewal fee is 1000birr.

The validity of the renewed student pilot license is 2years from the date of application.

• The decision to become a pilot is an easy one for most. But the process can be confusing.
• A student pilot certificate is issued to a pilot in training, and is a pre-requisite for the student to fly alone in the aircraft, or solo. It is usually initially issued by a medical doctor who is also an authorized aviation medical examiner, in conjunction with the student's first medical certificate.
• The doctor will issue a combination medical and student pilot certificate if the applicant meets the medical standards, and the flight instructor will later endorse the certificate when the student meets various training endorsement requirements (including the requirements for solo flight).
• You will need a Student Pilot Certificate before your first solo; that wondrous time when your instructor has enough confidence in your ability to get out of the airplane and send you off by yourself. You can obtain the certificate at any time prior to the solo.
