Apply In-Person:

1. Registering for VAT Tax in Ethiopia can be done by the Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority contact link
2. Applicant must enter all necessary details in the registration form.
3. Applicant should make sure to carry all documents mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
4. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form.
5. This procedure is free of cost.
6. If all procedures were followed properly, registration can be done within a day.

Citizens of Ethiopia who are setting up a business or any other related activities are eligible to register for VAT Tax.

There is no fee for this procedure. This can be done free of cost.

It is valid for 10 years.

VAT is introduced recently in Ethiopia. VAT is applied for both goods and services in Ethiopia.

• VAT is applied at the time of Import of goods
• VAT is applied when gold is supplied to National Bank of Ethiopia
• An individual can undergo voluntary registration of VAT for their individual businesses in Ethiopia.
