2. Applicant has to fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
3. Applicant must make sure to carry documents that are listed under “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
4. Applicant has to attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form.
5. Fee varies according to the visa - Regular Tourist Visa is obtained at $70, Rush Tourist Visa at $99 and Emergency Tourist Visa at $159.
6. If all the procedures mentioned above are followed properly, applicant can get their Visa within 3-8 business days.

• Tourist visitors to Ethiopia should be aware that they will be unable to take employment, including voluntary employment, whilst visiting Ethiopia on a tourist visa. Thus If visitors are caught in breach of their immigration status they may face severe fines or possible imprisonment.
• A visa in your passport does not guarantee entry. That remains the right of the immigration officials in Ethiopia;
• Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for Ethiopia visas;
• An improperly completed Ethiopian visa application may delay the processing of your tourist visa.
• A signed letter on the travel agency's letterhead confirming round-trip booking may also be accepted as proof of departure.
• Applicant from some specific origins may be required to fill out other forms for instance Applicants of Eritrean origin need to fill out the supplemental information form.
• The processing times for these some applicants can be extended by several weeks at the embassy's discretion.
• Some Tourist visa (valid for up to three months) can be issued on arrival only at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport to nationals and
• residents of the following countries: - Argentina, Australia, Austria, Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Belgium, Luxembourg, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, China, Norway, Czech Republic, Poland, Denmark, Portugal, Finland, France, Germany, Russia, Slovakia, Greece, India, South Africa, Ireland, Israel, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Japan, and Democratic People's Republic of Korea
• Eritreans and foreign nationals of Eritrean Origin shall be issued visas on Arrival; because they must obtain an entry visa prior to their departure to Ethiopia. Service fees will be paid in money order or Cashier’s Check or Certified bank check made payable to Embassy of Ethiopia
