Apply In-Person:

1. The application form for obtaining a gun license is available in the Ministry of Defence, Ethiopia contact link
2. Applicant should fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
3. Applicant should make sure to carry all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and Originals).
4. Applicant should attach the photocopies of the necessary documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting.
5. A fee of 150 Dollars has to be paid for a shotgun license and a fee of 1000 Dollars has to be paid for a rifle.
6. If all the above-mentioned procedures were followed by the applicant properly, then, the license will be issued within 6 months to one year.
7. If the applicant didn’t get the permit within 6 months, then, they can reach out to the office for getting information on their application.

Valid for 60 days then after renewal it can be valid for 1- 2 years and a renewal is required every year.

• In Ethiopia, an understanding of firearm safety and the law, tested in a theoretical and/or practical training course is not required1 for a firearm license
