Apply In-Person:

1. To obtain a Coffee Dealer License in Ethiopia the person should approach Ethiopian coffee and Tea authority contact link or the applicant should contact Ministry of agriculture location link
2. There you will be issued with application for dealer licence from the authority.
3. Applicant has to fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
4. Applicant must make sure to carry documents that are listed under “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
5. Submit the completed application form and pay the required application fee of and submit +the receipt as proof of payment.
6. The Board field officers will inspect the application make recommendations on the application and forward their report forwarded to Board’s Headquarters for the ultimate Board approval.
7. Upon a successful approval, the Applicant is notified by E-mail or SMS.
8. Once the license processing is done the coffee nursery License is issued within 90 days to the applicant by the Managing Director of coffee and tea authority.

• A certified copy of certificate of incorporation.
• A certified copy of memorandum and articles of association.
• Names of company directors, individual National ID/Passport No, Pin Numbers and certificate of good conduct.
• Names and addresses of two business referees.
• Tax compliance certificate from Ethiopia Revenue Authority for the Company and Directors.
• Clearance letter from the Coffee Exchange
• Proof of engaging the services of a coffee liquorer registered by the Directorate.
• Undertaking to furnish the Directorate with monthly returns.
• Any other requirements that may be prescribed by the Directorate from time to time.
• If applicant is a registered business, the certificate of registration and particulars of the proprietors.
• A statement of the un-audited accounts for the period of accounting year ending not earlier than six months prior to the date of application and audited annual accounts for the preceding two years (in the case of application of licence), management accounts up to the 30th November and audited annual accounts for the preceding year (in the case of renewal of licence)

• Any person, cooperative society, group or company who wants to buy coffee at the Exchange or to import coffee in Kenya is eligible to make this application.

• Fee to obtain a coffee dealer license is US$ 500.

• The license is valid for the period of one year.

• A Coffee Dealers License is a license authorizing the holder to buy or deal in clean coffee produced in Ethiopia or to import clean coffee from outside Ethiopia and to process in Ethiopia for sale or export coffee to any country of origin and deal in roasting, blending and packaging coffee for local sale or export.
• No person can deal/trade in coffee unless he is the holder of a current license issued in respect thereof by the Board after consultation with the Director.
