Apply In-Person:

1. The application form for Converting or Equating a Foreign Educational Qualification is available in the Ministry of Education, Ethiopia contact link
2. Applicant should fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
3. Applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and Originals).
4. Applicant must attach the photocopies of the documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form.
5. Fee must be paid as per the authority’s request.
6. If death occurs out of Addis Ababa, additional charges must be added to estimates for mileage and overland transportation costs between Addis Ababa and the major cities of Ethiopia.
7. The cost of exhumation and preparation for shipment includes a $1000 donation to the American Cemetery (if the remains are buried at the American Cemetery in Addis Ababa) an extra pay is required for the maintenance of the grounds and for digging the plot.
8. If the applicant follows all the above-mentioned procedures properly, then, the converting process will get over within 7-10 days.
9. If the applicant doesn’t get any information regarding the permit within 7-21 days then, the applicant has to visit the office once again to get details on their application form.

• After verification, the original documents will be returned back to the applicant.
