Apply In-Person:

1. To obtain research permit, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contact link
2. Applicant has to get the application form from the respective office.
3. Complete the application form with necessary details.
4. Make sure that the applicant should have the necessary documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Submit the application form along with the documents to the concerned officer.
6. Now the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
7. After verification process, authority will issue the concerned research permit to the applicant within in 2 weeks.

Applicant who do research and wish to visit other countries shall apply.

Fee will be disclosed by the authority at the time of application submission.

The validity period depends with the type of research. Usually most research projects take a duration of 1-3 years.

• If the applicant intends to return to Ethiopia, the residence permit should be valid for at least 3 months after the planned stay in the territory of the Member State.
• In case the applicant does not intend to return to Ethiopia, proof that the entry to country of origin or any other third country is guaranteed.
