Apply In-Person:

1. Refugees need a permit for entering, working and staying in Ethiopia.
2. Permit for a refugee is available in Administration for Refugee and Returnee Affairs (ARRA) link
3. Application form has to be filled with all necessary information requested in them.
4. Documents that are needed for this procedure are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Applicant must carry both photocopies and originals of all those documents while applying for this procedure.
6. Attach photocopies of documents along with the application form (whichever is necessary).
7. There is no fee for getting a refugee permit. The processing is free of charge.
8. If all the above-mentioned procedures were followed properly, applicant can get their permit within a week.

• Individuals who are given a refugee status in Ethiopia and are willing to take any employment within the state are eligible.
• Refugees who are willing to engage in business, trade or any other profession are eligible.
  

There is no fee for this procedure. Processing and Issuance are free of cost.

Refugees who own a refugee permit should renew their permit before three months from the expiry date of the permit.

A refugee permit is necessary for refugees for living, working, studying or undergoing any trade or business in Ethiopia.
