Apply In Person

1. To Apply for Domestic Investor Permit, the applicant has to approach the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) Link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. or it can be downloaded from the following link
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. The application fee and processing fee for Domestic Investor Permit are free of cost.
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
10. For further process, the applicant has to follow the instruction given by the officer.
11. This entire process can be completed within 4 – 6 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• Summary of financial statement of the recent two years
• Feasibility study of the project
• Power of attorney, if the application is made through an agent.
• Photocopies of Memorandum and Articles of Association.
• Photocopies of the relevant passport pages of each shareholder, if the company is to be established in Ethiopia.
• Clearance letter from the Ministry of Trade and Industry for the company name,
• 3 recent passport-size photographs if the investor is a person
• In the case of a joint investment with a domestic investor, a photocopy of the identity card or certificate evidencing domestic investor status
• List of capital goods and basic raw materials

• The investment permit should be used only to implement the approved investment project.
• The Investment permit can be obtained in one of the following ownership forms:
  • Sole proprietorship
  • The business organization incorporated in Kenya or abroad
  • Public enterprises and
  • Cooperative societies.

• The three types of investors in a business are pre-investors, passive investors, and active investors.
