Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew your passport in person, the applicant has to approach their nearby Embassy or the Ministry of Interior's Contact link
2. Get a Recommendation letter from a Professional known to the applicant, e.g., a teacher, Doctor Lawyer, Civil Servant. The covering letter should be addressed to the Passport Control Officer Ministry of Internal Affairs. Recommender must attach a photocopy of his/her National ID and sign it.
3. Applicants should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
4. Applicants must fill in all the necessary details in the form and attach the photocopies of the documents that are needed along with the application form before submitting.
5. The fee for this procedure has been mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
6. In the event you make any changes, change of profession, names due to marital status, you will be required to attach the relevant legal proof of changes.
7. If you have a profession or are making changes in your profession, ensure to attach a photocopy of your academic transcript or certificate.
8. Fill all the prepared documents in a file folder and submit them to the ministry of internal affairs or any passport control office or regional immigration office in your location.
9. The officer will verify the information you have presented and present your application for processing.
10. Collect your passport in Person after ten working days (normal passport applications) or two (2) working days (for Express Passport Applications) from the point where you submitted the application, unless advised otherwise by an Immigration Officer. You will be required to present your Receiving Slip and identifications at the time of collecting your passport at the Passport Delivery Office.
11. This process takes 15 days

• Copy of first page and bio-data page which has applicant’s picture and personal information.
• Copy of valid Visa if applicant has any in Old Passport.
• Copy of last page.
• Proof of Profession if changed.
• Processing fees
• Two (2) standard passport size photographs taken full face on a plain background within six months of the date of application without dark glasses or hat. One of the photographs should be certified as a true likeness of the applicant by the witness.
• Proof of Ghanaian citizenship (originals only)
• Documents to support Identity (originals only) such as School Certificate, Driver's License, Employment/Student / Other I.D. Cards.Previous Ghanaian passport issued to you
• Proof of payment of Processing fee
• Any other document that may be requested by the embassy official.
