Step I - Fill the Declaration Form.

The first thing is to apply and fill a declaration form at customs for re-exporting goods out of Egypt. Then attach a list of all goods that are to be exported.

Then provide a copy of completed inventory of re-exported goods to the director general of customs,indicating that the re-exported goods are for personal effect and for a Foreign diplomats, members of government or international organizations.

• Export letter of exemption addressed to the Customs Director

All Inbound Shipments are subject to customs inspection and assessment of customs duties and sales tax. Only full diplomatic shipments are exempted.

• In consequence to customs inspection books, magazines and other printed materials are subject to Ministry of Culture Approval.

Three authorized letters endorsed by governmental umbrella, addressed to: Alex. Customs Director, Shipping Agency & Bonded Warehouse

• Fill form 126 km and attach the following documents:

• Diplomatic Card & Diplomat Passport original
• Bill of Lading/Air Waybill or Express Release - copy
• Documents from Ministry of Foreign
• Affairs supporting evidence of mission

Step II - Complete a Personal Effects Statement form.

You should also submit a list of the household items which is not on the declaration form and these must be Personal Effects they are not taxed at the point of entry.

Beneficiaries of the temporary basis release option are exempted from duties on the non-consumable items (Electrical Appliances, Furniture, Vehiclesetc) while the consumable items (Glass Ware; China Ware; Frames; CDsetc) are subject to duty. Shipment is subject to customs inspection to enable customs authority to determine the consumable and the non-consumable items.

That the customs duties and taxes assessed by customs on the vehicle items will be paid in case that the vehicle is sold or rid-of locally and could not be re-exported with the shipment whenever it is to be shipped out of the country. No diesel engine allowed.

The 126KM Form issued upon exportation must be submitted to customs authorities and must be completed by the Yourself (Diplomat,member of government or international organization) ; however, you can nominate a representative such as a freight forwarder, customs broker, friend or relative to act on your behalf. This form is also available at any Egyptian Embassy or Egyptian Tax Authority and Border Point of entry, from your customs broker, or on the ETA website. The form is available in a number of foreign languages, however must be completed in English or Arabic.

Note

about 126KM Form: Alexandria Customs (sea shipments) issues the form for electrical and non-electrical items; Cairo Airport Customs only accepts the form for electrical appliances that have serial and model numbers engraved on the items.

Step III - Attach the following documents

• Original Bill of Lading.
• Owners Diplomatic ID.
• Commercial Invoice.
• Arabic Letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed to Customs Authority in Alexandria.
• Arabic Letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed to Director of Alexandria Port Traffic Department.
• Arabic Letter from the Embassy addressed to Bonded Warehouse and Steam Shipping line in Alexandria.
• Arabic letter from the Embassy addressed to the Ministry of Civil Defence.

• Original Bill of Lading (OBL) or Air Way Bill (AWB).
• Packing List (Shipment Description Inventory).
• Consignee original passport with an entry visa and a tourist permit.
• 2 Authorization letters or power of attorney to Express International.
• Work permit is needless.

• To be eligible to Re-export Household items you must be Foreign diplomats, members of government or international organizations like UN departing from Egypt with your personal property both new or Used items.
• Full diplomatic shipments are not subject to inspection, however international members of the organization and Government members are subject to inspection when re-exporting their shipments.
• To be eligible to Re-Export Household items you must be a foreign Diplomat who is going back to another country after finalizing the period of service in Egypt.
• Army men who finalized their period of Service in Egypt and need to be back in their home countries,Must Provide two letters one from Ministry of Defense from their home country and another one from Ministry of foreign affairs.

• Customs duties are equal 30% of the value of the shipment assessed by customs assessor.
• Sales tax is equal to 10% of the value of the shipment assessed by customs assessor.
• Egyptian Citizens have to pay full duties & taxes to import their used household goods.
• Egyptian consignee does not require residency visa, BUT requires newly dated entry stamp of not older than 3 months.

Valid for a period you re-exporting your goods out of Egypt.

• You must be a foreign Diplomat or members of government or international organizations and posted or intending leave Egypt after completing your period of Service.
• You Must provide Ministry of Foreign Affair Letter from your home country.
• Must provide Ministry of defense letter if you have be working in Egypt.
• Only Diplomats may re-export their cars when customer returns to his country.
• The Temporary registration must be obtained by the shipper

This is when a Diplomat's consignee is departing the posted country returning to the home country or another country and re-exporting household goods & personal effects previously imported into Egypt, when his contract comes to an end.
